A divers go to tool for a variety of circumstances, having a knife or safety tool is ideal for safety, convenience, and practicality. 

Helping to free a diver from entanglement in fishing line, or other catches, clean up rubbish during a dive, or as a general use tool on the dive boat, having a cutting device (or two) is an essential part to any divers kit.

Cutting tools intended for safety use tend to be constructed with a serrated edge, or possible curved line cutter to aid in removing entanglements.  

Specialised knives and bars for seafood harvesting can also act as a safety device, enabling any diver, in any situation to stay safe in the water!
