Collection: FINS
Fins are not only an essential piece of equipment for your dive gear but a great asset for both snorkeling and swimming by providing extra propulsion for moving through the water. A variety of options are available to suit different uses and activities.
Swimming fins - these are generally quite short in length and commonly made from rubber material. They are designed to not only help propel the swimmer but can also be used to increase heart rate and intensify your workout.
Snorkeling fins - often slightly shorter in length than scuba and freediving fins to accommodate swimming along the surface of the water. Snorkeling fins are generally lighter in weight to help minimise fatigue however this often makes them unsuitable for use with SCUBA.
Freediving fins - generally much longer in design to provide maximum propulsion for the minimum number of kicks enabling the diver to move further distances underwater during breath hold dives.
Scuba diving fins - often slightly longer than snorkeling fins and heavier meaning more weight to push through the water providing greater control. Blade style fins have a greater surface area for greater propulsion through the water whereas split style fins are designed to reduce water resistance allowing for easier fin kicks whilst still maintaining power.
Open heel or full foot options are available for most style of fins. Commonly open heel style fins are paired with a wetsuit boot to allow for extra thermal protection as well as protection of the feet walking to and from the dive site. They are the most common choice with scuba divers as they also allow for an adjustable fit. Full foot fins can be popular in warmer waters or paired with a neoprene sock for cooler waters.
